
Cebu Doctors’ University, or more commonly referred to as CDU, is a private university in Cebu.
In 1975, the school was founded. It was formerly known as Cebu Doctors’ College before gaining its university status in 2005. It was also previously located near Cebu Doctor’s Hospital in Don Jose Avila Street, in the Capitol area of Cebu City. It moved to its present location in the North Reclamation area, in Mandaue City, in 2007.
Cebu Doctors’ College opened with the College of Nursing, which is one of the pioneer nursing colleges in the province of Cebu. CDU currently has eight colleges. Apart from the College of Nursing, the College of Arts and Sciences offers baccalaureate degrees on biology, psychology and computer science. Associate degrees in health science education and computer technology are also offered.
The other colleges are the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Optometry, College of Rehabilitative Sciences, College of Pharmacy, and the College of Allied Medical Sciences. CDU-CM, which was established in 1977, is associated with the Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital. CDU-CAMS offer degrees in medical laboratory science and radiologic technology, while CDU-CRS offers degrees on physical therapy, occupational therapy and respiratory therapy.
It also has a graduate school, which was established in 1980. It also aims to open a school on Veterinary Medicine in the coming years.
In the Philippines, CDU is the only institution declared as a university without offering basic education and specifically catering to health services related courses.
