The precursor of Asian College of Technology (ACT) was Asian Computer Institute (ACI), which was founded in 1988 on Colon Street, Cebu City. ACI became the primary provider of computer literacy to Cebu’s corporate workforce as well as those of nearby provinces.
ACI was incorporated on May 14, 1992, as Asian College of Technology, Inc. and began to offer post-secondary and collegiate courses that pioneered an applied computer science formula. ACT expanded its educational programs to the south of Cebu and Cebu City when ACT Bulacao Campus was established in 1992.
ACT Bulacao Campus campus hosts the Integrated School Division and the computer science program. The ACT Integrated School Division (ACT-ISD) was established in 1994 to integrate preschool (playgroup, nursery, and kindergarten), grade school, and high school curricula.
The National Council for Product and Service Quality awarded ACT as the Best Computer School in Metro Cebu in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. The fifteen-storey ACT Cyber Tower at the corner of P. del Rosario and Leon Kilat Streets is ACT’s addition to the Cebu skyline. Its facilities include the following: mobile applications center, fiber optics training center, animation and game development studio, Cisco laboratory, digital electronics laboratory, general laboratory, and simulated hospital as well as a library and a gym.
The ACT International Education Foundation is also known as Athenaeum International School. It offers preschool (Nursery 1, N2, K1, K2), grade school (grades 1 to 6), and high school (first year to fourth year).
