Attention all dentists! Rise Above Foundation Cebu is looking for a dynamic team of dentists for their upcoming dental mission this July 6 to July 21, 2011.
Named The Hills Angel Project, it is going to be an “Island Hopping” Dental Mission/Free Clinic. Starting in Moalboal, the crew, together with the local motorcycle club will drive up into the neighboring mountains of Bohol for the last three days of the mission.
Volunteers will be helping those who cannot afford to go have dental treatments. Emergency dentistry, primarily extractions, is widely needed in the Philippines, considering more than 40% of the population is below the UN-established poverty line of one dollar per day. According to the foundation, there is a large number of children in primary school have five or more totally rotten teeth who cannot pay for dental fees. This is the reason why there is a need for volunteers to help these people who have been suffering for a long time.
Last January, with the help of a team of dentists from England, Denmark, Sweden and the Philippines, the foundation was able to provide free treatments to more than 600 adults and children from depressed areas in Cebu.
