We were looking for a dessert place along Osmena Blvd. on a Friday night when we chanced upon Yoyi’s Pastries and Desserts just at the side of Hi-Precision. We checked it out since there were only a few customers at that time, and we weren’t able to resist the desserts staring at us.
Yoyi’s is originally from Ormoc City and was established by Julieta and Froilan Celeste in 1994.
For those of you wondering how the name ‘Yoyi’ came about, it’s actually a mispronounced ‘Julie’, Ms. Julieta’s second child.
It has been operating in Cebu for 2 years already, but it was relaunched last June 30, 2016. It’s the second branch of Yoyi’s in the country.
Here are some of their pastries and desserts:
• Revel Bars
• Egg Tarts
• Macaroons
• Silvanas
• Crinkles
• Butterscotch
• Cakes – P250 up
• Brownies
• Brazo de Mercedez
• Leche Flan
• Egg tarts
PLACE
The pastry shop can accommodate 15 people at the most and has a red and white themed interior. With the fresh new look of the store; you will surely notice it now even from afar. It’s also very easy to locate and is very accessible.
What I also like about it is it’s just near popular restaurants, so you can just walk there for desserts.
PRICES
The pastries are usually priced 100 to 155 per box. This is cheap for 20 pieces/box – the reason I came back for two boxes of assorted pastries. Their Mocha Drip cake costs P380/whole and P60/slice. While, the black forest cake is P390/whole and 60/slice. You can also buy their pastries from P6.00 up per piece. They also customize cakes for events at P800. Everything’s really affordable!
PEOPLE/STAFF
The staff is very accommodating. They greeted us and welcomed us well. We asked them questions about the store and they didn’t hesitate to answer. They also offered us their best sellers to try on our first time there.
Overall, Yoyi’s is a great place to relax and indulge in sweet treats. It’s a small but homey pastry shop where students can silently read books or study, workers can relax over a cup of coffee and cake and Cebuanos in general to just enjoy delectable and affordable desserts. We’ll definitely come back to try more of their goodies.
Visit Yoyi’s from 8AM to 8PM from Monday to Saturday.
