While taking my usual route from work, something caught my eye as I passed by V. Gullas Street formerly known as Manalili. There was a big colorful sign with the words, “Jose R. Gullas Halad Museum” on it. So, if you’ve also noticed it, I’m sure you are as eager as I am to find out what’s inside the place. Let’s tour the place together!
ABOUT JRG HALAD MUSEUM
JRG Halad Museum was founded by Dodong Gullas back in 2010. The musically-themed museum was established to celebrate the enduring legacies of Cebuano cultural heritage expressed through music.
Inside the museum are Visayan musical treasures and memorabilia of local composers and artists. You can also find paintings, musical instruments, awards, certificates and original music sheets that prove how Cebu have been home to musical protegees.
During Gabii sa Kabilin, Cebu’s version of Night of Museums, JRG Halad Museum’s Halad Music Gallery in the second floor is flooded with Kabilin attendees as the section provides digital storage of Classic Visayan songs. You can listen to their musical station that has laptops and earphones. Nostalgic!
As of January 2015, Halad Museum’s entrance fee is Php10.
