If cave exploration’s your thing, you and your barkada need not go far for you can easily go caving in Cebu City! Have you heard of the Guadalupe cave? It is located at Langub, Kalunasan, Guadalupe, Cebu City and was discovered along with the replica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is believed to be hidden and forgotten years ago until it was discovered by a local wild chicken trapper. From then on, many devotees have been visiting the cave for the belief that devotion to the replica and a bath on the cave’s stream of Guadalupe river helps heal different illnesses.
Aside from the religious mystique that you could really feel upon entering the cave, the crystal clear stream will also take your breath away. But, if you want to have a longer and more adventurous caving experience, go to Igotan Cave!
Tucked in Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City, Cebu, this cave has become known for its falls that’s believed to be therapeutic. You can conveniently get to the place by riding a 41D or 42D jeepney (heading to Tabunok and Talisay) at the Citilink Terminal. Tell the driver or conductor to drop you off at Lagtang and walk to the nearby Rose Pharmacy. From there, take a habal-habal and tell the driver to bring you to Igotan Cave’s entrance. You will most likely be dropped off at the junction of the Mananga River where you can see a rusty metal footbridge just a few steps away. Then, cross the bridge and start your trail.
Don’t forget to bring at least 1 liter of water, some ready-to-get-wet wear, extra clothes, trekking shoes or sandals, and headlamp or flashlight. Prepare cash as well for you are expected to pay for the following expenses:
- 8-10 pesos fare for 41D jeepney from Citilink terminal to Lagtang, Talisay
- 10-15 pesos for habal-habal fare
- 20 pesos for cave entrance
- 5 pesos for resort entrance
