The weather’s getting chillier by the day and next month is the start of the “-ber” months. Or should we say “brrrr…?”
There’s one awesome, adventurous way of warming yourself up together with the rest of the barkada (gang, as in the group of friends kind)!
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Cebu has so much to offer! And we keep saying it because it’s so true! Let’s forget about the malls and the nightlife for a minute. Cebu is so blessed with natural wonders. The perfect kind for this season’s weather are the hot springs! Imagine dipping yourself into warm, bubbling water and just laying back.
Here’s a fun fact. Hot springs are good for more than just relaxing. It’s also known for speeding up your metabolism, removing muscle pains and cleansing. What more reason do you need to indulge yourself in these wonders of Mother Nature? Here’s a list to choose from or check out all of them!
1.) Esoy Hot Spring, Catmon
The walls of rock create a secludedness that results in this amazing feeling of oneness with nature. Visitors are free to use the cottages at no charge but you can’t set foot in this hot spring resort without paying for an entrance fee. It’s a P100 for Catmon locals and P300-P350 for non-locals. But for such a natural wonder, the fee is definitely worth it.
2.) Panicuason Hot Springs Resort, Naga City
The resort is a mix of modernity and nature but the man-made touch is kept simple and at a minimum. While the place is filled with plants, you can clearly see the terrain is composed of both cement and natural rock. Aside from hot springs with temperatures that can go as high as 39 degrees Celsius, they also have cold springs with the lowest temperature at 27 degrees Celsius.
3.) Mabugnao Mainit Hot Spring National Park, Carcar
This protected park is located on the mountain range of Mantalongon. If you’re looking to connect with a higher power and the world created, the hot spring park has saints such as Cebu’s patron, Santo Niño. Adventure-seekers will also enjoy this destination because it also has trails to different caves.
4.) Mainit Hot Spring, Malabuyoc
This cluster of hot springs has 3 pools with the hottest pool at 44 degrees Celsius and the one with the lowest temperature is 36 degrees Celsius. These 3 pools flank the Montaneza River. These hot springs have been developed by the government and are actively taken cared of by trained citizens, educated on the importance of taking care our natural resources. Check out our previous article, “Wonders from the SouthEast/West of Cebu,” about other things you can do when in the South of Cebu.
If you really don’t have the time or prefer to be close to other luxurious amenities for ultimate relaxation, we have one recommendation on our list for you.
5.) Mogambo Springs, Plantation Bay, Mactan
This 5-star resort located just about an hour or two away from the metro, depending on the traffic, has a hot spring located in its spa with a gorgeous, “uniquely charming” setting, “designed to resemble an 18th century Tokugawa Japanese village with its own thundering waterfalls, creek, and fog-like mist.” You can expect 5-star services like massages, aromatherapy and body scrubs to take relaxation to a different level.
