Women’s Month Activities
March is internationally acclaimed as Women’s Month and Cebu City joins in this wonderful celebration in honor of all the women in our lives.
SM City Cebu
At SM City Cebu, from March 8 to March 11, 2012, activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
From March 8 to March 11, special discounts and freebies will be given exclusively to women at these participating stores: Black Sheep, Closet Collection, Get Laud, Karimadon, Mendrez, Red Hot Chili Jeans, Shubizz, What a Girl Wants, and XOXO.
From March 10 to March 11, during mall hours, beauty and wellness consultation will be available at the lower ground floor of the main mall, the area in front of Watson’s Beauty. These makeover and beauty consultation services will be given for free by various participating stores. Kerastase will sponsor free hair and scalp consultation, L’Oreal Paris offers free hair consultation, 4U2 and L’Oreal give free make-up and makeover services, and JML will offer free hair makeover. Tibiao Fish Spa will also allow interested women a free five-minute Fish Spa experience while Wheatgrass will give away free wheatgrass samples.
A book exhibit by National Bookstore entitled “The Ladies of Cebu,” and a Pinay Pride dedication wall will be put up from March 8 to March 11,.
The three-day celebration will culminate with an all-women walkathon sponsored by Fitflop. On March 11, all women are encouraged to join the walkathon while wearing their favorite Fitflops. The theme for the walkathon is “Get Workout While You Walk.” The activity will start at 6 a.m., outside SM’s Northwing area, near Cabalen. It will consist of one full round outside the mall.
After the walkathon, special awards will be given to lucky participants. How can you participate? Simply buy a pair of Fitflop slippers at the Fitflop store in SM Northwing. Present the receipt at the Fitflop All-Women Walkathon registration booth, which is located at the main mall’s upper ground floor. You only have until March 10 to purchase and register.

On March 11, at 9 a.m., a thanksgiving mass for women will be celebrated at the Northwing Atrium.
Ayala Center Cebu
From March 5 to March 31, 2012, Ayala Center Cebu has packed a lot of activities not only commemorating Women’s Month but also Graduation and Earth Hour, among others.
Design Awards and Exhibit featuring the works of USC College of Architecture and Fine Arts students will be at the Exhibit Area 1 from March 5 to March 10. The works on display will include student outputs in the fields of advertising arts, architecture, interior design, and painting.
On March 7, at 6 p.m., fans of Martin Nievera should be nowhere else but at the Ayala Terraces. The Philippines’ Concert King will be promoting his newest album entitled “Mga Awit at Damdamin.”
On March 8, at 7 p.m., a carbo loading activity for all the participants of the first All-Women Ultra Marathon will be held at the Active Zone. This will prepare them for their exclusive 50-kilometer running event scheduled for March 10, at 8 p.m. The run, which is in celebration of the International Women’s Month, will cover the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu. The marathon will begin at the mall’s Active Zone Driveway.
March 9 will be the kick-off for Ayala’s mall-wide Green Fridays Promo. This campaign aims to promote the use of eco-bags or reusable bags when shopping at any Ayala Malls establishment. The promo will from March 9 to June 1, 2012. During the said dates, shoppers who use eco-friendly bags are entitled to a raffle coupon. The prizes at stake include travel packages to El Nido and a house and lot in the Avida Village NUVALI, in Calamba, Laguna.
On March 11, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts will celebrate “Sayaw Pinoy,” at The Terraces. The activity will showcase the colorful tradition of Filipino dances and movements. The Commission hopes that this celebration will allow the grassroots level to discover new talents and to develop connections to more dance artists in the country.
A three-day mall-wide sale and promo that starts on March 16 is the highlight of Ayala’s graduation celebration. Until March 18, you can enjoy discounts from your favorite stores while also getting a chance to win numerous exciting prizes. Various events will keep mall-goers entertained.
“Jam with SomedayDream” featuring SomedayDream and Hale’s Champ will be held on March 16, at 6 p.m., at the Activity Center. GMA Network’s top-billed stars will have a mall show on Saturday, March 17. On March 18, at 6 p.m., Cebu’s top bands will perform at the graduation promo’s grand draw.
From March 21 to March 27, visit the Rotunda Area for the Travel in Style Exhibit where you can see the latest fashion trends and travel must-haves.
On March 31, at 8:30 p.m., Ayala Center Cebu will take part in the Earth Hour, which is an annual global event organized by the World Wildlife Fund.
All-Women Ultramarathon
On March 10, 2012, the Philippines’ first-ever All-Women Ultramarathon race will take place in Cebu. It will also be the country’s first ultramarathon for the year 2012.
Organized by the Cebu Ultra Runners Club and Ungo Runners Club, the race is in celebration of women empowerment and International Women’s Month.
Approximately 180 ultramarathon runners are expected to join the race. The participants come from Metro Manila, Davao, Cebu, and its neighboring communities. Members of Samahang Mananakbo ng Smart (SMS), which is Smart Communications, Inc.’s running club, are among the participants.
The race will start at Ayala Center Cebu’s Active Zone at 10 p.m. and will finish in Lapu-Lapu City following a 10-hour cut-off. All finishers will receive a medal, a shirt and a loot bag.
