Sinulog 2012
Cebu’s much-anticipated Sinulog celebration will be on its 32nd year this 2012. Considered as one of the grandest festivals in the Philippines, this year’s organizers promise a more colorful, more fun-filled celebration. Expect world-class performances from various contingents, street parties and an overflow of ecstatic activities from Cebuanos as we celebrate the Feast Day of Señor Sto. Niño.
This year’s theme is “One beat, One dance, One Vision. Cebu – City of Culture.”
Sinulog 2012 Solemn Procession Route
The Solemn Procession scheduled for January 14, 2012, Saturday, will start from and end at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino. According to an article by Sun.Star Cebu, changes have been made in the routes for the two major processions, which are the Traslacion motorcade to be held on January 13, 2012, and the solemn procession on January 14. (update 01/12/12)
The grand procession on the eve of the Feast Day of Señor Sto. Niño will be 6.8 kilometers long. From the Basilica, it will pass through Osmeña Boulevard up to Fuente Osmeña, then Gen. Maxilom Ave. toward Carreta cemetery, before it will proceed to M. J. Cuenco Ave. going towards P. Gomez St. near the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, and then back to the Basilica.
The Philippine Red Cross and medical schools will put up medical stations and the Metro Cebu Water District will set up four (4) water stations along the Solemn Procession route. In turn, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will deploy more than 3,000 personnel for security.
