Ever After: The Bridal Fair 2012

June is dubbed as the wedding month and to celebrate this, J Centre Mall held “Ever After: The Bridal Fair 2012” that showcased the amazing talents of young Cebuano designers.

The Fair opened with an exhibit of beautifully crafted wedding gowns, photographed by 1up2down photography. The three-day exhibit was officially launched on June 24, 2012. The highlight of the bridal fair was the fashion show last June 28, 2012 at The Atrium of J Centre Mall.

The well-attended event featured the creations of Cebu’s young and promising fashion designers namely Philipp Tampus, Wendell Quisido, Hanz Coquilla, Harvey Cenit, James Cañete, and Elmer de Venancio. The beauties that paraded the gowns were from Stacy’s Exclusive Model Management. Jomer Arances of Secanara Hands did the bridal makeup.

Every woman yearns for a perfect wedding, where she can wear her dream gown and look particularly dashing. Bridal fairs like the recently concluded Ever After exhibit and fashion show provide brides-to-be with helpful information in terms of the latest fashion trends. You will see various wedding dress styles and materials and have an idea how they will fit and flow as the models walk the runway. You will also know which types of accessories will look good on certain gowns such as veils, jewelry, shoes, etc. You also get ideas on which hairstyle and makeup will look appropriate. After the fashion show, Stacy’s models gorgeously posed on top of colorful blocks so that interested viewers may take a closer look at the designers’ bridal gowns.

Among the promising designers who joined the exhibit and fashion show is James Cañete. This young couturier graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus. Addressing his passion for the arts, he is also a freelance make-up artist, photographer, stage designer, graphic and layout artist, graphic design consultant, and events coordinator. He staged his first major fashion show entitled “Aftershock: The James Cañete SS2012 Collection” on April 28, 2012, at The Veranda of J Centre Mall.

Philipp Tampus is best known locally for being a finalist of the first season Project Runway Philippines. He also competed in 1994 Mega’s Young Designers Competition (YDC). He has worked as a bridal and evening gown designer in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This experienced fashion designer hails from Lapu-Lapu City and is a graduate from the University of San Jose-Recoletos. He is also an instructor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FIDA) Cebu.

Hanz Coquilla is also known for having joined Season 2 of Project Runway Philippines. The 30-year old fashion designer is a prominent player in the local fashion industry and is celebrating a remarkable 12 years of making gorgeous creations. Among Coquilla’s famous clients are Rufa Mae Quinto of Showbiz Central, Governor Gwen Garcia, Tessa Prieto-Valdez, Bianca Gonzalez, and Queen of Cebu 2011 Bee Urgello.

Harvey Cenit is one of the designers for Harley Ruedas and Mark So Boutique and Co. Cenit is a graduate from the University of the Philippines Cebu College.

Elmer de Venancio a fashion designer is affiliated with Lines Models.

In the Cebu fashion scene, Wendell Quisido has become a household name. In addition to being a renowned fashion designer, he is also among the sought after make-up artists for elite Cebuanas. He is a member of the organization know as the Make-up Artist Club of Cebu (MUAC-C).

Philipp Tampus, Wendell Quisido and Harvey Cenit are all members of the charitable organization called Clothes For Life, Inc., which is composed of fashion designers, make-up artists, hairdressers, stylists, modeling agencies, and other individuals in the fashion industry. The organization engages in fund-raising activities such as fashion shows, bazaars and other promotional events in order to provide assistance to calamity victims and indigents.
