2nd Philippine Energy Efficiency Forum

By on July 6, 2012

Aiming to address the challenges of energy security and climate change, Cebu will host the 2nd Philippine Energy Efficiency Forum (PEEF) on July 17, 2012, at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The forum brings together energy experts, policy makers and business leaders to exchange insights regarding solutions to energy problems in the country. They will also talk about the important drivers for energy efficiency in the electric power sector value chain that include generation grids, as well as electricity for commercial, residential and industrial use.

One of the current energy problems in our country is insufficient supply. The high demand for electricity due to industrialization specifically affects various provinces in the country, causing low voltage and power outage.  To resolve the high demands of energy, people resort to other sources that usually cause negative effects to the environment. PEEF aims to educate people that making homes, vehicles, and businesses more energy efficient is a solution to address the problems of energy security, pollution, global warming, and fossil fuel depletion. Reducing energy use, which decreases energy costs, is also seen as a solution to the problem of minimizing harmful emissions.

Organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), PEEF Cebu is expecting at least 200 delegates to join in the discussions and is aiming to have 30 booths to feature energy efficient technologies and solutions. Aside from energy policies and energy efficient technologies that need to be integrated across the electric power sector value chain, there will be consumer education to enhance energy security, boost global competitiveness and speed up economic growth.

PEEF’s main goal has always been to promote the national effort towards energy security and low carbon economic growth. The solution for this is energy efficiency, which can be achieved through three factors: (1) assembling key decision makers and business leaders from the energy, commercial and industrial sectors to apply energy efficiency programs at an enterprise level; (2) strengthening partnerships and expanding alliances with different stakeholders in the government, private sectors, civil society, schools, and international organizations; and (3) endorsing greater visibility for new approaches and sustainable solutions to energy efficiency throughout the energy value chain.

What makes the 2nd PEEF unique from other energy efficiency conferences? The focus of this forum is on energy efficiency from the business perspective of enterprises within the energy value chain. This includes energy resource fuel, power plants, and transmission and distribution for commercial, industrial and residential uses.

PEEF Cebu also provides attendees with the opportunity to share and learn state-of-the-art technologies and best practices in energy management. It is also a great venue for networking and forming business partnerships among participants. The event has a technology showcase featuring a number of energy efficient products and energy management solutions.

This year’s PEEF has a technical briefing, which allows sponsors and exhibitors to present their superior and unique energy efficiency solutions. Lastly, this event has a business matching that will offer sponsors and exhibitors pre-arranged meetings with potential partners and clients.
