Cebu’s North Bus Terminal

Located at Subangdaku, Mandaue City, the North Bus Terminal is the main hub for buses, mini-buses and vans for hire plying routes for the Northern part of Cebu province.

The terminal accommodates an average of 110 buses from 4 different bus lines, 47 independent mini-buses, and several v-hires. The bus routes include Bogo, Daanbantayan, Maya, Medellin, San Remigio, and Hagnaya, among others. The mini-buses ply the towns of Sogod and Borbon.

According to a Cebu Daily News report, the terminal was one of several projects funded by the Overseas Development Assistance, which was extended by the Japanese government as part of its Metro Cebu Development Package 2. The terminal, which was completed in 1995, provides additional revenues for the city of Cebu.

Following its completion, Alfredo Ouano, the former mayor of Mandaue City, expressed plans to convert the NBT into a school, because of his city’s inability to run the hub. Cebu City decided to take control of the terminal and, along with the takeover, assumed the payment obligations for the project loan. In 2008, Jonas Cortes, incumbent mayor of Mandaue City, disclosed that they will take over management of the NBT and its debt payments once the councils of the two cities (Mandaue and Cebu) approve the arrangement.

For those traveling to the famous Bantayan Island, they can take a bus from the NBT plying the route to Hagnaya port. They can then take a ferry from there to the Sta. Fe pier.

For those heading for the pristine beaches of Malapascua Island, take a bus bound for Maya-Daanbantayan at the NBT. A boat ride from the Maya wharf can take you to the island in minutes.

So if you’re planning a weekend getaway, go North and be amazed at what more the province of Cebu can offer.

Maybe you can arrange a van transfer with the resort you will be staying at. There are also car rental companies in the airport. Good luck!

I need to hire a van. Pick up is from Mactan Airport going to Bantayan Islands. Time of pick up is 10:30am. We are a group of 8 and we prefer to hire someone in the North Bus Terminal. I know there are vans for hire in that area. Can you please provide a phone number so they may pick us up and negotiate for the time and price.
