Of the 12 candidates, one stood out during this year’s Miss Cebu and that is no other than University of the Philippines Mass Communication graduate Wynonah Van Joy Buot.
Being an early favorite, having won the awards Best in Fun Wear and Miss Ayala Fiesta Island during the pre-pageant, it wasn’t so much of a surprise when Wynonah was announced winner of the prestigious title.
Aside from inheriting the crown from Miss Cebu 2014 Dianne Muego, Wynonah also received four special awards namely Best in Evening Gown, Kapamilya Star for the Night, Miss Photogenic and Miss Friendship.
During the best segment of any pageant, the question and answer portion, the five finalists were asked the question: If you were to take Pope Francis to dinner in Cebu, who would be your Cebuano guests and why?
Wynonah answered that she would invite students of Cebu since they are the hope of the country and in that dinner, they can talk about how they can strengthen and bring change in society.
On the other hand, the following are this year’s runners up: 1st runner up, Ma. Genefe Navilo; 2nd runner up Aivy Mae Castro; 3rd runner up Lucena Rose Magdadaro; and 4th runner up Domenic Reynes.
Interestingly, Wynonah is the second graduate from UP to be hailed Miss Cebu after Dianne Muego.
As winner, Wynonah will receive P60,000 cash and will get the chance to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, Korea and Hong Kong.
The judges for this year’s pageant are 1986 Binibining Pilipinas Maja Ma. Luisa Agana, model and entrepreneur Suyen Chi Sia, artist John Celdran and fashion designer Frederick Peralta while Michael Carandag chaired the board of judges.
