ABOUT PANDOO Foundation
1. When did Pandoo Foundation reach out to Philippines specifically to Cebu?
Pandoo Foundation is incorporated in Singapore but has been extended officially in Cebu since June 2014.
2. Is Cebu the only place in the country where Pandoo is offering educational programs?
Our focus is the island of Cebu. However, we have held some of our projects in Tacloban and Doong Island. We also frequently travel to Bantayan Island.
3. What have been Pandoo Foundation’s activities since it was established in Cebu?
Pandoo Foundation Cebu branch focuses on Education. We have done many activities in this field. For example, after Typhoon Yolanda we reached out and collaborated with several organizations in order to get schools back and running.
Our main activities at the moment are our Pandoo Club and our mobile jeepney library. Our Pandoo Club is a community center located in Brgy. Kasambagan. It offers a variety of educational activities for in and out-of-school kids. Beep Beep Books, our mobile library, travels to surrounding neighborhoods to foster a love of reading in kids and to give them the right tools to grow into strong readers!
4. What have been Pandoo Foundation’s achievements or contributions since it started fighting for literacy in Cebu?
So far, we have reached nearly 10,000 kids in the Philippines, we have donated thousands of books, and we continue to quickly expand. We are constantly improving and building our program in order to make a long lasting impact in children and in communities. Our biggest achievement so far has been to recruit the key people to make our mission a reality.
5. Who are your first beneficiaries?
At our community center, we service children from Brgy. Kasambagan, Zapatera in Barrio Luz, and Sitio N.G.A.
For our mobile summer camp, we have targeted 10 communities that we believe are the best match for the program we are delivering. We are also continuing our collaboration with various organization in the region.
6. Who can volunteer for Pandoo summer program in Cebu?
We are looking for individuals who have a passion for helping through education. If you are 17 years old and older, want to have a memorable summer, have patience, a big heart, and the desire to work in a dynamic and creative team, and want to have fun and work hard, well, we are looking for you!
7. When will the summer program start?
Our summer program will start the second week of April and will end last week of May. This is Pandoo Foundation’s first summer camp!
8. Can you give a short message for Cebuanos to entice them to volunteer in Pandoo’s endeavors?
Volunteers don’t always have the time but they make the time. They make time because they believe they are a part of the solution and that their time and energy can make a difference. Future generations need our support and guidance; they need to be taught the value of education and the value of helping. Taking the time to support things you believe in sets a clear, positive, and long lasting impression in the kids we are wanting to inspire.
