As of 12 noon today, the location of the eye/center of typhoon Hagupit, which has already entered the Philippine area of responsibility and is locally codenamed as “Ruby”, is at 860 km east of Surigao City. It has maximum sustained winds of 290 kph near the center, and movement is west northwest at 20 kph.
The typhoon is expected to be in the following areas from Friday-Sunday:
- 395 km east southeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar on Friday morning
- 30 km northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar, and will make landfall in Samar area before noon this Saturday with an expected strength of 300-350 kph
- 20 km south southwest of Romblon by Sunday morning
Estimated rainfall amount within the typhoon’s 700-km diameter is 7.5-20 mm per hour (heavy to intense). So, what to do? Everyone is advised to watch out for the next bulletin from PAG-ASA, which will be issued at 5 PM today.
