When the magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit Central Visayas in 2013, the Pasil Fish Market was destroyed. Soon, in the rubble of the old market, a new sports center will spring forth.
The Cebu City Government announced that the construction of the multi-sports functional center will officially start this February.
According to the plan, the sports center will not only have swings and slides but it will also have spaces set aside for:
- Sepak takraw
- and Skateboarding.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama expressed that he wants the sports center to be an avenue for children to engage in sports and other recreational activities.
If the need arises, the park can also serve as temporary evacuation site.
The area will also be fenced as to secure the equipments for the construction.
The project, said the mayor, will not cost the city a penny as it will be undertaken through the city government’s People-Privately Driven Governance or PPDG.
