Every law student's aim, perhaps, is just to find his/her name in the list of passers. To become a topnotcher is just a bonus. Well, Michelle Liao from our very own University of Cebu was just hopeful that she'd have the title 'Atty.' even when she wasn't able to finish answering the test.
But when the results were out, she learned that she placed 5th on the Bar exams. Lucky? Well, maybe it takes more than just luck!
Thirty-one year old Liao is the class valedictorian of her batch. She graduated magna cumlaude from the University of San Carlos and pursued her law school studies in UC College of law where she was graduated cum laude.
Liao shared in her interviews that she didn't bother checking the results of the exams online and even turned off her cellular phone. However, when her parents broke the news to her, she immediately visited Carmelite Monastery in Mabolo to thank God for the blessings she received.
Aside from being the first female topnotcher from UC, Liao also passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Board exam in 2009.
Even if UC College of law was established only in 2002, it has produced four topnotchers already. And everytime a graduate tops a board or bar exam, the school administrators always make it a point to reward its pride.
