How would you describe the Filipino? Hardworking and innovative are two common descriptions. This local taxi driver who has been making rounds on the internet recently definitely embodies that with his smart way of earning a living. Adonis Mejasco from Talisay City, Cebu, works full time as a taxi cab driver and at the same time runs a sari-sari store, a smaller version of a convenience store that’s more commonly found in our country. How is this possible? Well, he takes his store with him wherever he goes.
Mejasco has turned his taxi into a mobile sari-sari store. He sells candies, chips, peanuts and biscuits. Of course, you’ll want something refreshing to go with those so he’s got drinks on hand for sale, too. One pleasantly surprised passenger, Fred Aires Dimaro, posted a picture of Mejasco’s taxi store on social media last September 17, 2015 and expressed his admiration for the cab driver.
His hard work and ingenuity has even caught the attention of The ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) who featured a short story of his mobile sari-sari. According to the report, Mejasco says he earns an extra P300 daily from the sales of his store. Watch the video of the report below.
Do you enjoy munching on a snack during your ride to work, to school, to a night out or on your way home? Even if you’re just curious to experience taking a ride with the one and only taxi-and-mobile-convenience-store in Cebu, you can book a ride with him through the GrabTaxi mobile app. His taxi’s plate number is GXT-431.
