Today when stories of falling victim to snatchers, “Laglag Barya Gang” and hold-ups are now commonplace, one Metro Aide worker shows honesty that Cebuanos should be known for.
Lolito Masbang turned over a lost-and-found wallet to the Cebu City Public Information Office (PIO). The wallet contained cash amounting to P1,011.00 and a printout of “a study load for First Semester, School Year 2015-2016 of Ms. Kara Zia Dela Peña, an Architecture student from the Cebu Institute of Technology - University,” as posted on the facebook page of the Cebu City PIO. The wallet was found on July 31, 2015, Friday at Tres de Abril Street, Labangon, Cebu City by a garbage can.
In an interview with the city newsletter, BARUGG News, Masbang said this is the second time he found a wallet in the time he has been working as a city Metro Aide. Despite having to rely on meager earnings to raise a family with 7 children, it doesn’t seem the idea of using the money crossed his mind. “E-uli gyod nako kay dili man ni atong kwarta. Murag allowance ni sa tag-iya kay estudyante ra ba (I have to return it because it’s not my money. This looks like school allowance because the owner seems to be a student),” Masbang explained.
There have been no reports yet that the wallet has been claimed by the owner. If you know her, you can inform her that her things can be claimed at Cebu City Public Information Office, First Floor of Legislative Building in Cebu City Hall. She can call at 254-8632, if she wishes to.
If you find any lost-and-found items, you can turn it over to the same office. The Cebu City PIO proudly reports that they’ve successfully returned previously found items such as a cellphone, a bag and a pouch. For those who are serving the people of Cebu, the city PIO leaves one message. “To the honest Cebu City Government employee, may your tribe increase.”
