The music video contest sponsored by Sun.Star Cebu was capped last July 31, 2011, and the winners were awarded at the Sun.Star office last September 2, 2011.
The contest called for video entries that conveyed the theme, “I Love Cebu,” and captured the many ways a Cebuano can love his hometown.
The entries were judged based on these criteria: originality and creativity, which constitutes 40% of the total score; adherence to theme, which constitutes 30%; and overall appeal, which comprises the remaining 30%. The appeal criterion includes the number of Facebook likes that the participants’ entries have. A bonus of five points is awarded to entries if original music is used.
Among a good number of video entries to choose from, the winners of the Sun.Star Cebu Yearbook 2012 Music Video Contest were announced last August 12. Charmaine Maristela-Cagang was declared the Gold Award winner for her entry “Why do I love thee?” and Josephus C. Bajo was named the Silver Award winner for his entry entitled “Sa Cebu Nata.”
Burt Lao’s entry entitled “Home is Where the Heart Is” won the Bronze Award. The video is among the first of a number of projects initiated under EverythingCebu.com Production. The video entry was shot all around Cebu by Burt Lao and LY Pada. Among the featured Cebuano landmarks are the Basilica Del Sto. Niño, the Plaza Sugbo at the SRP area and The Terraces at Ayala Center Cebu.
The top three videos will be published in the Sun.Star Cebu Yearbook 2012 issue. Copies of the videos will also be featured in a DVD, which will be included in the Yearbook. Following the formal launching of the Cebu Yearbook 2012, copies will be made available at all National Bookstore branches.
