If you were able to stay tuned to your TV during the weekend, you were most probably one of those who cheered for Cebu’s Miss Philippines Earth bet, the 19-year old Jamie Herrell.
She may look familiar to lots of Cebuanos since Jamie already won 3 major beauty pageant titles last year, namely: Sinulog Festival Queen 2013, Reyna ng Aliwan 2013, and Miss Tourism Ambassador of the Philippines 2013. This year, she also grabbed several minor and special awards for Miss Philippines Earth, such as Best in Cultural Attire, Best in Swimsuit, and Miss Solaire 2014.
Jamie is the second Cebuana who won the title, next to Karla Henry who was also named Miss Philippines Earth last 2008 and even won the international title “Miss Earth”, making her the very first Filipina and Asian to ever win the prestigious title since it started way back 2001.
This year’s Miss Philippines Earth pageant took place in SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City last May 11, Sunday, and hosted by the former Miss Earth titlist herself, Karla Henry, and Kapamilya actor Robi Domingo. Want to know more interesting facts about the beautiful Jamie?

Q&A: Question from Akbayan partylist spokesperson Risa Hontiveros – “Have humans been good to Mother Earth?”
Jamie’s answer – “We haven’t been good children. In fact, I believe that we are the number one cause of her problems. We are the reason why we’re having climate change. We are the reason why we’re having floods. But in return, if we can only help her, she can help us back and take care of us, too.”
