For the 2nd season of The Voice Philippines, 56 artists will battle it out for the title ‘The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 Grand winner’. This early, we know you have your bets already.
Fortunately, it’s an easy pick for us Cebuanos because three outstanding singers/performers from the town made it. To give you more reasons to stand behind the backs of these Cebuanos, here are some notable facts about our representatives.
During the Blind auditions of The Voice of the Philippines, Jose Emmanuel Cubil or Jem made coaches Lea Salonga and apl.de.ap turn their seats. Guess he passed the internationals standards of these two amazing singers with his rendition of Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody”.
Jem was born on December 6, 1993. The 5’11 hunk from Talisay took Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering at the University of San Carlos, Cebu. He auditioned in ABS-CBN’s Pilipinas Got Talent back in 2011 where he made it to the top fourteen finalists to compete for the grand finals. Unfortunately, he lost to Marcelito Pomoy who was eventually announced as PGT grand winner. Jem is also a model and a big fan of David Cook.
This season, Jem is the first Cebuano to enter The Voice Philippines.
Sarah Geronimo used her last turn for Rizza Cabrera to complete her powerhouse team. The twenty-two year old auditionee impressed the coach with her acoustic version of ‘Clarity’.
Who is Rizza Cabrera before he joined team Sarah?
Cebuano Rizza Carmina Cabrera was born on May 3, 1992 and is a student from Meridian International (MINT) College in Taguig.
She plays for several bands: Walkie Talkies PH, The Fridays PH, and House of Hamsters. She was one of the interpreters of Himig Handog’s entry “Pumapag-Ibig” written by Jungee Marcelo. She also writes songs, make V-logs, records song covers, and edits videos.
Remember the girl in Nescafe’s commercial, “Ang sarap kaya! Try mo?”
Well, that girl is Cebuana Thara Therese Jordana who is the 9th member of Team Lea. The 23-year old Thara Therese Jordana is not new to singing contests or to the eyes of the public, because she also qualified in TV 5’s Kanta Pilipinas last year where she almost made it to the grand finals. She also joined “Are You The Next Big Star?” on GMA a few years back.
At the age of 14, Thara left Cebu and tried her luck as a talent of Star Magic but she later stopped and prioritized her studies. The Spanish-Filipina beauty is into sports as well. Back in highschool, she was the volleyball team captain.
