If you’re looking at the possibility of wearing a neon-colored two-piece this summer, then it’s time you work on that figure. And what’s the best way to get your body toned while learning a new talent than trying out pole dancing, right?
This April 2013, Gold’s Gym Cebu will begin offering pole dancing classes. The classes will be officially launched on March 16, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Atrium of J Centre Mall in Mandaue City, Cebu. Gold’s Gym Cebu’s pole dancing instructors received training from Polecats Manila, which is a recognized performance group composed of internationally certified instructors offering pole dancing classes. Among those who will be teaching the art of pole dancing at Gold’s Gym Cebu are Baby Jane Enad and Dennis Tangkay.
Pole Dancing is a dance performed while using a fixed vertical pole as a prop. Besides being fun and sexy, this type of dance also builds muscle strength, tones the entire body, improves one’s flexibility, stamina and endurance, and increases core and body strength.
The routines of a pole dance provides full cardiovascular benefits to the dancer, who can also burn more calories and fat with the rigorous up and down movements. Other health benefits you get from pole dancing are improved body coordination and good posture. Apart from the physical benefits, the dance itself encourages creative expressions, improves one’s awareness of his/her body and increase self-confidence. It also helps ignite one’s sexual life and reduces stress.
Polecats Manila is considered the premiere pole dancing school in the Philippines. The group was formed in 2009. They currently have a studio that “boasts of professional grade equipment of the highest standards for safety and quality,” which is located in Ortigas.
According to the Polecats’ website, they are “taking pole dancing to new heights.” They describe themselves as a performance group that “deliver fluidity in motion, with performances that fuse ballet, jazz and gymnastics.” As teachers, on the other hand, they say that their objective is “to show every student that no matter their size, height or history, they are still capable of defying gravity.”
