Back in the days, a number of schools in Cebu served as detention cells and barracks for war soldiers. Because of this, school walls have witnessed a number of gruesome murders and abuses you could not have imagined. Even after several decades, the souls of these victims continue to revisit their final spot as if to say: We are still here. Unfortunately, they do not only make their presence known during Halloween . To prove this, here are some hair-raising firsthand accounts and narratives from the students of the different schools and universities.
The Black Lady’s Blasphemy
A female student from one of the medical schools in Cebu was alone in the comfort room one morning. As she fixed herself in the mirror, a black lady, red-eyed and bloody, appeared at her back. She was so scared that she closed her eyes and prayed the “Our father”. The student, still praying, opened her eyes and expected the ghost to disappear. But no, the lady made scary faces while reciting the prayer together with her. Cebuanos call this act of ghosts ‘sumay-sumay’. After that, the student collapsed from the Horror she experienced.
The Ghost of a Leader
It was Girls Scout camping when this encounter happened. All of the GSP members were asked to gather in the football field, leaving the GSP leaders to guard the belongings of the members in the high school building. One GSP leader stationed in the fourth floor approached a GSP member as she was not supposed to be there. The GSP member said she was asked by “Sir Lea” to go there. There was no leader named Lea. But there was a Lea rumoured to have taken her life during camping decades ago.
The Friendly Cadaver
Some students find peace in the chapel. As for some medical students, they discovered that they are not the only ones frequently visiting the place. A lot of them have had similar encounters with someone who randomly talks to them in the shadows. According to the students, “He” doesn’t scare them. The ghost just talks to them about anything. They only later found out that he was one of their cadavers.
Haunted Radio Booth
In one of the Catholic schools in Cebu, a radio booth was said to have been home to a ghost of a woman. According to Edwin, he was on his earphones listening to a track from Katy Perry, when he suddenly heard a voice echoing the lyrics of the song. He thought it was from outside the radio booth until he realized that the whole room was soundproof. When he also asked his friends who were with him if they heard someone singing, they all shook their heads, mystified by the question.
The Quick Switch
The viewing room was locked in an all-girl school. The key was in the control room. Everything was in the right place before the last group of students left the place. When they returned just a few minutes after because one of them forgot something, they were then shocked to find all chairs facing a different direction – the direction where the cross was located. They were sure no one could turn those chairs that fast and without anyone noticing.
