While some Cebuanos are busy planning for their vacation or visiting different places to spend their summer, others prefer thinking of a good business now that the hot season is on. If you belong to the latter, here are small business ideas that may just bring extra income to you this summer:
Kwek-kwek and tempura, halo-halo, shake, juice, soft drinks and cold beverages, water, and fruits are some of the food that you can easily display on the street and start selling for a minimum capital. You just have to buy quality products so your small summer business becomes a hit to locals and tourists wanting to quench their thirst and satisfy their hunger under the sun.
Lots of street vendors say their sales can go triple during summer simply because more and more people go out of their homes or take a leave from their jobs to go on a vacation, making this entrepreneurial idea a wise venture in the hot months. To get the right profit for a street food business, you have to look for the right venue as well as think of ready-to-eat or drink products that you believe will sell fast with the kind of market you have in mind. For instance, if you wish to start a small store outside your own house and cater to the usual needs of your neighbors, halo-halo and fruit shakes can be great options. Aside from the fact that these products don't require a large business area, you can also easily sell them at low prices, like 10-20 pesos per cup of a halo-halo, so the general masses can afford them and even consider going back to your store each time they feel thirsty simply because you offer cheap and summer-perfect treats!
If you are near public beach resorts, you may set up a table, a chair, a cooler, and an umbrella on the shore to sell soda and water and other cold drinks that local and foreign customers will surely crave for. Or better yet, opt for a bigger selling area in the market near you so you can display pakwan, pineapple, and other on-season fruits that easily quench summer thirst and certainly bring favorable profit.
Lifebouys or salbabida, flip-flops, sunblock lotions, and swimwear are other hot products this summer. You may invest in a couple of lifebouys and partner with a public beach where you can rent out your salbabidas at a reasonable hourly rate, like 50 pesos per head perhaps, and give customers more reasons to enjoy swimming and other beach activities. It would also be great if you set up an online store where customers can conveniently pick their desired items and place their orders. I have a friend who sell flip-flops on Facebook, and she claims that she and her partner get good investment returns from selling these useful items now that everyone's going on summer vacations. Make sure though that you are able to set clear guidelines to avoid bogus buyers and ensure that your products are getting paid just right. This kind of entrepreneurial idea can be ideal if you have a reliable supplier. Also, see to it that the items you are selling are close to your heart so you can really test them and easily convince potential customers to order from your online store.
Speaking of selling something that you like and believe in, you may also consider using your own talent in gaining profit this summer. If you are into knitting, why not sell handmade fabric swimwear? Again, do display your finished products online so friends can easily view and eventually order. Summer could indeed be a perfect reason to make the most out of all your social media accounts!
