Kwin & Kim Entertainment Power Station is a new talent artist management company, events maker, and entertainment producer that was started by a Korean doctor and businessman, Dr. Aden Kim, and his beautiful Cebuana wife, Mrs. Kwin Cabahug-Kim. This Cebu-based company has a partner agency in Korea and aims to hone Filipino talents and prepare them for a successful career in Korea’s booming entertainment industry.
Last Saturday, August 9, Kwin & Kim had their first audition in Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino’s Business Center. The event was attended by a total of 36 talented Cebuanos (aged 5-22) who wish to showcase their singing, dancing, acting, modeling, and hosting skills.
The audition was graced by Mr. and Mrs. Kim themselves who meticulously judged all of the aspiring talents. Pastries and sweets were provided to entertain those who were waiting for their turn, including their supportive parents and friends.AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PRESIDENT
Everything Cebu got the chance to interview the young and smart President and Operations Head of the company, Ms Kwin. Here’s how our conversation went:
Do you have an age bracket for your talents?
Yes, auditionees should be 10-25 years old.
Will you have other auditions?
Yes, we have auditions every 3 months, and this is the first of the series of auditions we will conduct before the company’s grand launching, which will take place before this year ends.
What’s next for those who successfully passed the audition?
Well, we will train them in our very own training center that’s currently being constructed in Maria Luisa Properties in Paseo Esperanza, Cebu City. There, their skills in acting, modeling, hosting, singing, dancing, and Korean language speaking will be honed for 1-2 years until some of them become fully prepared for their debut appearances or performances in Korea, specifically on our partner television channel, MBC (the 2nd biggest channel company in the whole Korea) and be given a long-term contract. We will make sure that they pass the international entertainment standards, and while training, we will also expose them to the public by organizing our own events, such as fashion shows.
Why set up an entertainment company?
Entertainment has always been my passion, and my husband, the Chairman (Dr. Aden Kim), noticed how the Philippines love K-pop. Since he has a background in the industry, invested in SM Entertainment years ago (big entertainment firm in Korea that currently handles the famous K-pop group Girls’ Generation) and is actually a good singer, too, he thought it would be great to set up an entertainment agency that will give Filipinos, especially Cebuanos, a chance to go to Korea and build a successful career as a K-pop artist, which is a first in Cebu by the way. My husband is also a no-newbie to businesses since he has a couple of businesses in Korea and is active in condo development. His medical specialization is cosmetics and is a graduate of Internal Medicine in Korea. He has also been recognized as one of the top 100 doctors in Asia.
I, on the other hand, studied Nursing and International Business Management, and now I’m taking up Law. I have been awarded as Best Debater in 2010 and was a consistent honor student. I have always been competitive while growing up, and I also do image modelling and event and TV hosting. Apart from these achievements, I was able to manage our family business for a couple of years, which then made me more interested to set up my own company, specifically in the entertainment industry.
