“It’s time for an evolution” is the tagline for the first-ever Cebu Creative Industries Summit on June 21 and 22, 2011, at the City Sports Club, Cebu Business Park. This event is intended as a showcase to promote awareness of how creativity and innovation are driving economic development in the Philippines and the global market. The theme for the event is Entrepreneurship Interface with Creativity and Innovation.
Sponsored by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cebu, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VII, and the Creative Cebu Council, the activity will offer an exchange on creative and innovative strategies for business growth, excellence, and global competitiveness, according to Nelia Navarro, the DTI provincial director for Cebu. She added that the summit will provide an overview of the world market potential for creative products and of finding a niche in one’s industry, through innovation and other ways.
Creative Cebu Council provided a distinctive logo for the event. Creative industries are defined as those having their origin in the creativity, skill, or talent of the individual. Creative industries include artisanal products, cinema and AV media, performing arts, visual arts, and literature and publishing, among others.
