World Food Expo Visayas and Hotel Restaurant and Catering Expo

By on March 1, 2012

The Visayas is gradually catching up with the nation’s capital in terms of economic growth. Cebu, in particular, is considered the second economic power in the Philippines. Next to Manila, Cebu is one of the largest contributors to the country’s Gross National Product (GNP) because of its dynamic tourism, trading and manufacturing economy. With direct international flights and infrastructure development, there is an increase in tourist arrivals and business investments. Cebu has certainly grown to become a strong financial hub.

The rising tourism industry in Cebu and the rest of the Visayas leads to more hotels and restaurants. Visayan entrepreneurs aim to provide the best services, particularly those in the food and beverage industry. To be able to fully attain this, businesses should have the right equipment and supplies.

On April 25 to April 28, the World Food Expo (WoFEx) Visayas and its co-located event the Hotel Restaurant and Catering Expo (HoReCaX) will take place at the Cebu International Convention Center. On its fifth year, the joint expo will not only bring buyers and sellers together, but provide sources, build networks and give learning opportunities to food and beverage establishments.

Organized by Premier Events Plus Group, Inc., the event is expected to be filled with stalls showcasing various ingredients, cooking tools, manufacturing equipment, food display counters and other merchandise. Aside from bakery and catering equipment and supplies, there will also be foodservice equipment and packaging machineries. If you are looking for coffee machineries, freezers and chillers, and inventory controls, you should come to this event.

Held within the exhibit area will be cooking demonstrations on international cuisines, beverages, and cake decorating, among others. Those who are interested to open up a bar or planning to work in one should not miss the bartending, flairtending and mixology demonstrations. Guests will also learn how to effectively use advance cooking technology that will be helpful to food businesses.

On the other hand, the event will also feature seminars for different kinds of businesses, which are held at a seminar room near the exhibit hall. Tips on opening cafés or restaurants, applying for business loans or microfinancing, and requirements in opening a business will also be discussed. Other seminar topics include catering and restaurant management, and the hotel system and housekeeping.

Expos or trade shows like the WoFEx and HoReCaX provide businesses a lot of benefits. Companies get to display their products, learn new trends in their respective industry, and be familiarized with their competition. These exhibitions allow small businesses to stand on equal footing with far larger competitors. They offer selling opportunities, strengthen existing business relationships, and allow product launchings. Joining the WoFEx and HoReCaX is a good strategic move for a small business with low profit margins because they attract hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors.

The money spent for the expo won’t be put to waste since it is a great venue to make a business known to consumers in just a matter of days. This saves you from costly television, radio, print, and Web advertisements. Aside from directly meeting potential customers, cooperation and communication can also be established with other companies. Companies can make a deal with one another and exchange ideas.

Cebuanos and Visayans are naturally food lovers. This is why there are a lot of restaurants in Cebu already. We all love to eat.
