If you are looking for a new type of place to chill, Coffeecat is the ideal place for you. It is an inviting and modern coffee shop located at the eBloc (JP Morgan Chase Building) in Asiatown I.T. Park, Cebu City. A coffee shop originating from Davao, Coffeecat opened its Cebu branch in July 2010.
The name Coffeecat “is the product of an intriguing play of words coupled with a serendipitous association to a cat-sized mammal called a civet cat, which has a close affinity towards coffee berries.” The Coffecat concept is a combination of three interesting things: (1) the Filipinos’ tradition of taking a break from their busy lives to relax with the company of family or friends, (2) Italian coffee culture, and (3) the influence of North American pastry tradition.
Aside from providing refreshing drinks and delicious food, this café is a great spot with a warm and cozy atmosphere, allowing customers to have great conversations while eating. It mixes comfort with contemporary, industrial and minimalist elements.
They have a wide array of coffee products that are made from premium illy, an Italian coffee brand that uses nine types of pure Arabica beans. Choose from Coffeecat’s hot and cold Espresso, Espresso Macchiato, Espresso Con Panna, Caffe Americano, Cappuccino, Caffe Latte, Caramel Latte, Caffe Mocha, White Chocolate Mocha, Taro Latte, and Sea Salt Coffee.
Coffecat’s tea selections are not limited to traditional hot tea. They also have refreshing “Specialteas” like the Kefir Yogurt Green Tea with Basil Seeds, Green Tea Macchiato, Ice Cream Tea, Passionfruit Tea with Konjac, and Lemon Winter Melon Tea. They also have very light but creamy milk tea varieties that include the following flavors: caramel, chocolate, hazelnut, taro, and vanilla. Pearl Milk Tea, Taro Milk with Egg Pudding, and Grass Jelly Milk Tea are available as well. The Yin Yeung Milk Tea, which is a combination of different types of black tea mixed with dehydrated milk, promises a sensation of wellness and harmony from within.
Are you bored with your usual cup of coffee or tea? Coffeecat’s version of blended drinks called Avalanche is a must-try especially if the weather is too hot. Avalanche is available in several variations. For coffee drinkers, try the Coffee Jelly Avalanche, Caramel Avalanche, Mocha Avalanche, Mocha Chip, Avalanche, and White Chocolate Mocha Avalanche. Tea aficionados may go for Green Tea Avalanche, Mango Tea Avalanche or Chai Tea Avalanche. Other variants are the Vanilla Avalanche, Strawberry Crème Avalanche, Berry Infusion Avalanche, and Double Chocolate Avalanche.
They also serve yogurt smoothies that come in Tarty Mango, Strawberry Swing, Original Tart, and Green Tea flavors. The sweetness of all Coffeecat drinks can be adjusted to the customers’ preference. You may request for full (100%), less (75%), half (75%), quarter (25%), or no (0%) sugar.
Coffeecat also boasts of their famous signature YOGO Premium Frozen Yogurt. Unlike ice cream, YOGO is made of pure organic yogurt, which means it is fat-free, high in calcium and protein, and low in calories. It has live and active probiotic cultures that promote healthy digestion. It is available in small, medium, large, and pint sizes.
YOGO comes in original and green tea varieties. Fruit toppings include mango, kiwi, peach, pineapple, banana, grape, blueberry, strawberry, mandarin orange, and red ruby cherry. The choices for dry toppings are granola, Meuslix, desiccated coconut, crushed graham, Special K cereal, M&M’s, Butterfinger, Reese’s, Oreo cookies, almonds, Mochi, and fudge brownie. YOGO tastes better when topped with organic honey, chocolate syrup or caramel syrup. YOGO parfaits, which come in classic, tropical and Piña Colada, and YOGO on waffle, are also available. With the success of the YOGO brand, the company plans to open their own stand-alone yogurt café here in Cebu.
Coffeecat is also a haven for dessert lovers. They serve different types of cookies like oatmeal, chocolate chip, and white chocolate chip with macadamia nuts, as well as other yummy pastries such as different types of donuts, blueberry cheesecake, Kahlua walnut pie, chocolate crumble, very rocky road brownie, banana caramel crunch, and chunky fudge.
If you want satisfying snacks, order the Hungarian sausage with mashed potato or Angus burger. They also have savory pastries like ham and cheese ensaymada, tuna turnover, chicken turnover, and chicken calzone. Coffeecat also promises extra special mornings with their breakfast meals that are available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Choose from the All American Platter (scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon strips, breakfast sausages, and whole wheat bread, with fruit marmalade), The Fat Belgian (Belgian waffle with butter and maple, eggs, bacon, and breakfast sausages) and Belly Buster (two buttermilk pancakes, eggs, bacon and breakfast sausages).
Despite the presence of local and international coffee giants in Cebu City, Coffeecat continues to succeed because of its ingenuity in coming up with new products.
