Five years after opening its first store in Bonifacio Global City, Krispy Kreme is about to set foot in the Queen City of the South. This October 2011, Krispy Kreme will begin serving the Cebuano market.
There are currently three Krispy Kreme outlets in Cebu: Ayala Center Cebu, Asiatown I.T. Park and SM Cebu City near Starbucks and Chikaan (updated 10/24/11)
Since 2006, the confectionary company has gained enough patronage to move for an extensive expansion beyond the borders of Metro Manila. At present, the establishment has 23 stores offering doughnuts that are famous for their melts-in-your-mouth quality.
The chairman of Krispy Kreme Philippines, Jim Fuentebella, relates that every time a new store opens for business, they also experience the long lines that are similar to what people in the U.S. do. It is typical of Krispy Kreme to give their first customers a month- or even a year-long supply of doughnuts, which is why a lot of the doughnut line’s patrons camp out days prior to the opening of the new store.
Mark Gamboa, the marketing manager of Krispy Kreme Philippines, relates that the company wants to “share the Krispy Kreme experience” to the Cebuanos. The Cebu branches will offer a wide variety of doughnuts, including their world-famous Original Glazed, yeast-raised and cake doughnut varieties. They will also serve their Signature Coffee along with their hot and cold beverages.
In October, KK lovers residing in Cebu need not fly to Manila to grab a bite of their favorite snack. Somebody’s prayer sure got answered.
