Are you a Japanese food fanatic? If you are, then you’d probably enjoy a Japanese cooking class. Fortunately for you, Kamekichi cooking classes are held in Kamekichi Ramen, Mabolo, Cebu City.
These cooking classes on Japanese cuisine own the distinction of being hands-on, easy and fun. It enables the participants to learn how to cook Japanese food like pros, even within the comforts of their own homes.
The classes officially started on March 20 2011. The first class was composed of 9 participants who were taught how to make Kare-Raisu, or curry rice. The second batch held classes last April 10, with 10 participants learning the basics of Okonomiyaki, or Japanese pizza. Last May 1, 15 participants joined the third class as they cooked Nikujaga, or stewed meat and potatoes.
The fourth Kamekichi Cooking class involved 9 participants and was held last May 29. They cooked Original Japanese Spaghetti – Napolitan. The next 14 participants were taught how to prepare Hanba-gu, or Hamburg Steak and Spaghetti Salad, last June 19. The sixth batch, with 12 participants, cooked sushi rice and shrimps for a Chirashi Zushi on July 17. The seventh batch, with the largest attendance of 29 participants, learned how to cook Katsudon, or breaded pork cutlet in rice bowl, last August 7.
The recently concluded eighth Kamekichi Cooking class taught participants how to prepare Tonjiru, or Pork Miso soup.
On September 18, Sunday, at 2 p.m., Kamekichi Ramen will host the ninth Kamekichi Cooking Class. Learn how to cook Chicken Teriyaki Don, or Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl, under the expert tutelage of Chef Kameyama-san. The venue is located in front of old Paseo.
