Right next to the National Book Store Mango, you can find a new Tapas bar & restaurant that entices night life enthusiasts with some lively Electro Latin and Jazz music.
Cebu’s Tapas Bar and Sunrise Lounge is a new addition to the many night life venues found along Mango Avenue, but what sets this place apart from the rest is the fact that it serves delicious Spanish treats, making it the first-ever Tapas bar in the whole Cebu! It just opened last January 2014; however, this newbie is already grabbing the attention of many Cebuanos, especially that they were one of those very few bars and restaurants in Cebu that offered a live showing of all FIFA World Cup 2014 games.
This tapas bar and restaurant is serving breakfast and dinner as well as coffee and a variety of wines. They also offer sexy cocktails and authentic Spanish pica-pica.
A friend of mine was lucky to get a chance to experience this newly opened cafe and here’s what he has to say about VIVA:
How’s the food?
>Viva serves a variety of Latin American tapas dishes that are simply delicious. Each dish is quite unique in flavor, and is delicately prepared. Great to enjoy over a nice wine or some fresh draft beer.
Do you have any personal favorite? What do you think of their rates?
> I can’t go past the tomato meatballs. The food and drinks edge on the more expensive side, but you get what you pay for in this bar.
Is there is an entrance fee?
> No entrance fee.
How does the interior design look like?
>Viva is quite a small bar that offers a warm Latin American feel. It’s definitely one of the more polished bars, and offers a breath of fresh air while in Mango Square.
At what time is the bar usually full and busy?
> Viva is open daily till late. Your sure to find people to mingle with around 10pm. The place to grab a drink and a bite before heading to one of the many nightclubs around Mango.
Who owns the bar and why did he come up with a tapas concept?
> The bar was started by a small group of foreigner businessmen and women, one of which originates from Brazil, which is where I imagine the Latin American influence came from.
