Mario Eduardo “Jun” Escario started his career, at the young age of 19, as a part-time designer for a Cebu-based ready-to-wear clothing exporter. He had a short stint as the full-time designer of En Sepia, the premier fashion house in Cebu, where he mastered his skills in haute couture and dealing with clients. When he decided to open his own shop, he named it Bacchus, which signifies love of life and living well. The fashionistas in Cebu started to notice and soon enough, Jun Escario became a household name.

Escario took a gamble in 2001 when joined the “The Concours International des Jeunes Createurs de Mode” in Paris. He was one of the five finalists representing the Philippines, where he got a special citation as the Best Philippine Designer for the dazzling piece he made out of pleated paper, silk threads, shell beads and copper medallions.

To broaden his design horizon even more, Escario conquered Manila, the country’s capital. He found the perfect location for his design studio, also suitable for small workshops and showrooms, at the LPL Towers on Legaspi Street in Makati.  He invited recognized Filipino designer OJ Hofer to become his business and design partner.

Escario opened his Manila atelier in 2004. In just a span of two years, he made a name for himself and became one of the Philippines’ sought-after designers.

Jun Escario gowns have graced a number of Filipino magazines like Philippine Tatler, Marie Claire and Mega. Celebrities who wear Jun Escario include Gretchen Barretto, Ruffa Gutierrez, KC Concepcion, and Zsa Zsa Padilla.
