One of Cebu’s pride is renowned fashion designer Arcy Gayatin. Arcy is a self-driven woman, who has been in the fashion business for over 25 years and she continues to soar in the arena of style and fashion.

Arcy has gained her rightful spot as one of the highly regarded designers in Cebu and even the rest of the country. Her creations have been worn by various stylish women. It is her rare talent to incorporate beauty and functionality altogether into her designs that make her stand out.

Arcy evolved as a designer whose concept started out in a purely aesthetic point of view. Over time, her approach towards designing clothes centered on not just how creative a piece of design is, but also how functional and comfortable it will be for the one wearing it. She wants her masterpieces to serve their purpose and fit the different lifestyles of her clientele as well.

Her inspiration to create innovative pieces comes from appreciating different works of architecture, striking or eye-catching images, or from appealing fabrics. She looks up to her style icons Gloria Guinness and Marina Rust.

Arcy’s philosophy maintains that a good design is one that achieves both beauty and practicality that can withstand its relevance for many years to come. Her creative process starts by carefully studying the fabric then figuring out what patterns would perfectly fit the material. She loves incorporating different fabrication techniques in order to give the cloth a new texture and personality.

No doubt, her runway pieces are likely to find their way straight to any woman’s closet. Her collections are designed for women, who like herself, not only wear them but live in them. She believes that clothes must fulfill their purpose and that is to let any woman feel comfortable in their own skin. A piece of clothing must be like an extension of oneself that moves gracefully with its wearer.

Arcy is passionate in discovering new techniques in designing. She realized that there are many different ways to manipulate pleats. She is also famed for her signature cobweb designs. Arcy is adventurous and never tires of trying something new. One of the fabrics she’s fond of working with is jersey because the material allows freedom of movement.

Arcy is also known for her excellent draping techniques. She feels that draping helps her fully understand how a fabric falls and moves. For Arcy, it is essential to start a design process by assessing the fabric, then letting it speak to you so you will discover the countless possibilities that you can do with the material.

Her knowledge of fabrics urged her to experiment and yield various fabrication techniques that eventually were labeled as distinctly hers. She has learned the technique of degraining fabrics to arrive at its rawest form and use different kinds of lace to make a unique pattern. Arcy also loves integrating different textures and materials to create a new material or fabric collage.

She shares that her love for fashion was greatly influenced by her mother which began at a very young age. It was her mother that led her to appreciate custom-made pieces. Part of her future plans and advocacies is to be able to provide work for people, especially women, who really need it through her craft.

On a personal note, during her leisure time, Arcy loves to read and do crossword puzzles. She enjoys listening to Adele, U2, and Edith Piaf songs. Her collections, aside from her design masterpieces, are thimbles from different places she has been to.

She considers Florence, Tuscany as her favorite travel destination, deeming that there’s something magical about the place. Add to that, her favorite shopping destination is the Moss in New York, where the whole store is a feast for any designer’s eyes.

Indeed, what makes Arcy Gayatin lovable in the eyes of her loyal clientele are her extraordinary pieces that are not just all about design but the feel of comfort it gives to those wearing them.

Arcy Gayatin is a member of three prestigious fashion organizations: Fashion Council of Cebu, Fashion Design Council of the Philippines and Council of Fashion Designers of the Philippines.

   i think i’ve seen that parang mukhang carpet ang tela na dress sa isang display exhibit sa sm.. ito ba yon???
