The University of Cebu, commonly referred to as UC, is a premier educational institution in the Visayas region. The university was founded in 1964 by Atty. Augusto W. Go as an institution of higher learning committed to authentic education.
UC currently has four campuses, specifically (1) the Main Campus, which is located along Sanciangko St.; (2) the Banilad Campus located along Gov. The former UC-South Campus, which was also located along Sanciangko St., is now defunct and has been demolished to give way to the expansion of Elizabeth Mall, also popularly known as E-Mall, which is a sister company of UC.
UC was initially established as Cebu College of Commerce and it offered the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Associate in Secretarial Science during its initial year. On its eighth year, the institution opened more courses including Education, Liberal Arts, Customs, and Criminology. CCC then changed its name in 1972, and was then known as the Cebu Central Colleges, which offered more undergraduate curricular programs, a graduate school, and a training course for Marine Officers. In 1983, UC was the first to offer Computer Science in Cebu and in the entire Region VII. The university earned
