Children’s Paradise Montessori School
Awarded as Cebu’s 2010 Montessori School of the Year, Children’s Paradise Montessori School stands out as ever. Also known as CPMS, the school is an authentic Montessori school that is currently based in H. Abellana St., Canduman, Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines.
CPMS is committed to the holistic development of the child, incorporating the Montessori method of education. The learning approach involves the integration of a holistic and value-based curriculum through multiple intelligence approach.
The Montessori method is a self-directed learning approach in educating children based on the research of Maria Montessori (1870-1952), an Italian physician and educator. Dr. Montessori discovered “the child’s true normal nature” in 1907, during her experimentation of giving young children the freedom to experiment in an environment equipped with learning materials for self learning. This approach encourages children to create, sustain, and develop their true nature.
Montessori’s philosophy sees children as they really are and establishes an environment that develops the full potential of the children spiritually, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Montessori’s educational approach caters the needs of children in all levels of physical and mental aspect as they learn and live in the real world set up.
The school’s method focuses on the personal development of the child to produce more socially adept children. In CPMS, children are respected and appreciated for their work and effort. The teacher observes each student and plans individual activities that will hone each child’s talent and potential. The children are not limited to stay in their respective desks; instead they are free to move around the room. The room is designed according to various subject areas – mathematics, science, language, history, etc. and at any point in a day; all the subjects will be studied.
