Annebisyosa Concert in Cebu
In November 2011, Anne Curtis was in Cebu to promote her first album entitled “Annebisyosa,” at Ayala Center Cebu. This March 23, 2012, Curtis will be back in the Queen City of the South for the Cebu leg of her successful “Annebisyosa” concert.
Anne Ojales Curtis-Smith, who is more popularly known by her screen name Anne Curtis, was born on February 17, 1985, in Victoria, Australia. Her mother is a Filipina, Carmen Ojales, who is married to an Australian lawyer, James Curtis-Smith. This young lady is one multi-talented lass. In the Philippines, she is a renowned actress, model, television host, and VJ.
At the age of 12, Curtis began her acting career with the movie entitled “Magic Kingdom.” During her teen years, she was among the cast of T.G.I.S (Thank God It’s Sabado) and several television series that aired under GMA Network.
In 2004, she transferred to another network, ABS-CBN, and has since then bloomed into the celebrated actress that she is now. Among her most notable portrayals on television are as Stephanie Borromeo in “Hiram” along with Ms. Kris Aquino, Ms. Dina Bonnevie, Geoff Eigenmann, and Heart Evangelista; Imang/Fatima/Bernadette, the lead role in “Kampanerang Kuba”; Celine Magsaysay in “Maging Sino Ka Man” and “Maging Sino Ka Man: Book 2″ opposite Sam Milby, along with Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz; Dyosa/Josephine/Takda/Cielo/Agua/Tierra in “Dyosa”; and as Angela Aguirre in the Philippine TV verion of the Korean series “Green Rose.”
She will also star in an upcoming soap opera entitled “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw.” The newest ABS-CBN primetime show will cast Curtis as the rebellious younger sister of Philippines’ Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, while Bad Boy Robin Padilla will be the man who gets torn between these lovely sisters. Child star Xyriel Manabat will also be starring in the show, which is set to premiere on the second quarter of this year.
Curtis has a number of noteworthy roles in film. To name a few, she was named Best Actress during the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival for her role as Feliza Reyes in “Baler” and was once again chosen as Best Actress for her role as Kara Zalderiaga in “No Other Woman.” Both films were considered blockbuster films in 2008 and 2011, respectively. Her other movie appearances include “Ang Cute Ng Ina Mo” with Ms. Ai Ai de las Alas, “When Love Begins” with Aga Muhlach and Maricel Soriano.
She is also prominent in local television due to her hosting stints with ABS-CBN’s variety shows “Showtime” and “ASAP.”
In 2011, Curtis released her first solo album entitled “Annebisyosa” under Viva Records. She says the album came after much prodding and that this is a dream come true, thanks to her management, Viva Artists Agency, and Viva Records. The album is a pop record that easily reflects the artist’s fresh and bubbly nature. This includes an original song entitled “Tinamaan Ako,” covers of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cindy Lauper and “Too Many Walls” by Cathy Dennis. The arrangements of her upbeat versions were done by her noontime show co-host DJ M.O.D. Remakes of “Bizarre Love Triangle” by New Order and “Mouth” by Merril Bainbridge are also included in the compilation. Her version of “Alone” and a duet with Sarah Geronimo, “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” are also in the album.
In two weeks, the album has gained significant sales, earning her a Gold certification. In two months, it already gained Platinum certification. Her first major solo concert promotes this top selling album. Curtis confirmed the concert in an interview she granted with ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show “E-live.”
Prior to her own concert, Curtis participated in the “All for One” concert held by Side A and Martin Nievera. During the said concert, she sang “Alone,” which she claims is the song that clinched the realization of her dreams as a recording artist.
Her major solo concert dubbed as “No Other Concert: Annebisyosa Live! World Tour” kicked off at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last January 28, 2012, during which, Curtis donned fabulous costumes, preformed breathtaking dances and engaged in mind-blowing song numbers. Among her guests were younger sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith, best friend Luis Manzano, Vhong Navarro, Showtime co-host Vice Ganda, ex-boyfriend Sam Milby, No Other Woman co-stars Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsay, and Sarah Geronimo. The concert is directed by Rico Gutierrez with Marvin Querido as musical director and lighting design provided by Shakira Villa Symes.
