Asia Pacific Poker Tour Cebu
The concluding stop of the fifth season of PokerStars’ Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) will take place in Cebu this April 2012. The APPT Cebu will kick off at the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino from April 24 to April 30, 2012. Will a Filipino grab the title this year?
It will be the third time that the APPT will be held in the Queen City of the South. The first time was during the third season, where South Korea’s Han Dong-bin was proclaimed the winner. Last year’s APPT Cebu crown went to Im Young Shin, also from South Korea. Now using the screen name Vivian Im, the first female to grab an APPT title dominated the Php100,000 buy-in main event and bested 236 players. She won a total of Php5,081,000 in prize money. She will be back this year to defend her title.

The first season of the APPT transpired from August to December 2007, with five events held in four locations: Manila, Philippines; Seoul, South Korea; Macau, China; and Sydney, Australia. APPT Season 5 started in July 2011, which opened in Melbourne, Australia, from August 29 to July 1, 2011. The next stop was in Queenstown, New Zealand, on August 23 to August 28, 2011, and then in Macau, China, on November 23 to November 27, 2011. The fourth leg was held in Seoul, South Korea, on March 8 to March 11, 2012.
In terms of the structure, most APPT events this year are four-day tournaments. These events generally incorporate a start bank of $20,000 and 60-minute blind levels. However, the structure for the APPT Melbourne event had a start bank of $30,000.
