Cebu Wetland Resort
Cebu’s “pocket paradise” is a 1.3 hectare property consisting of mango trees, a pond, floating restaurants, a hotel and a swimming pool. Indeed, Cebu Wetland Resort is the ultimate quick getaway from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The resort, which opened to the public in January 2009, has a rainwater catchment system that allows water to flow into the fish pond where guests can try their luck at fishing. There are seven pedal-powered boats that guests can rent to better enjoy the pond.
There are three floating restaurants, which aside from serving food on the menu, gives the guests the option to have their catch cooked. The restaurants staff will cook your catch for Php180 per kilo of tilapia and Php250 per kilo of the Pangacius fish. The restaurants can accommodate about 30 people, which make it a lovely venue for intimate gatherings and private parties.
For guests who want to stay overnight, the resort has a 16-room hotel. It also has four function rooms with the maximum capacity of 80 people. These rooms are perfect for corporate meetings and conferences for large groups. If guests don’t want to hold a party at the floating restaurants, they can opt for any these function rooms since they can also cater to parties. The room accommodations will range from Php1,500 to Php2,500 per night.
The entrance fee for the resort is Php50, for both adults and kids. An additional Php150 is charged for pool use.
Aileen Garcia-Yap of Cebu Daily News cites Engr. Julito Roden as saying, “This May we will be hosting the Mango Festival which is in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Department of Agriculture as well as the Cebu City government. It’s happening on the last week of May.” Engr. Roden is the president of Roden Construction and Development Corp., which owns and operates the resort.
