Who would ever think that situated in the outskirts of Argao Cebu is a genuine man-made castle? The Riverstone Castle is the only real fortress standing in the province of Cebu that is entirely built from stones in Argao’s nearby rivers, thus the name “Riverstone”. The castle’s architecture is patterned after European castles in the Medieval times.
Fairytale stories take us to enchanting kingdoms where princes and princesses live in enormous castles. All these imaginations and visualizations turn real as soon as you step in the huge doors of Riverstone Castle. Two armored stone knights stand on guard by the castle moat and you will find yourself climbing up through spiraling staircases once inside.
Expect to find different sorts of antiquated ornaments littered around, or discover different crevices in the castle. By exploring the place, you will be mystified to find an underground restaurant, a wine cellar, wishing wells, stone chimneys, stone roundtables, and many more.

Genesis: The castle was built in April 2002 by the Galeos brothers, Edsel and Edgar. The idea was conceived during a family reunion in Edgar’s hilly farm with two foreign nationals, Norwegian Rune Sande and Belgian Raphael Lemmens. Inspired by the picturesque scenery, suggestions on developing the place into a family children’s park emerged, and more development ideas were casted. A month later, the family decided to have the place developed into an ecotourism spot.
The Riverstone Castle was erected using Edgar’s property, with Edsel as the developer. This lush tropical castle is brilliantly designed by their friend, Raphael Lemmens.
