You can discover the underwater world in a sea aquarium here in Cebu. Mactan Island Aquarium is home to a collection of the planet's most fascinating and beautiful sea creatures, including octopus, rescued sea turtles, jellyfish, seahorses, lionfish, and clown fish (like Nemo).
This sea aquarium is a good place to take a look at life beneath the waves, and it showcases Cebu's notable marine life. Located in the beach resort area of Mactan island, the aquarium provides an edifying experience that includes taking visitors on a guided tour of the ocean exhibits, ending with the shark tank, where they could have an added optional treat: the unique chance for visitors to actually feed the blacktip reef sharks.
Mactan Island Aquarium is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The regular admission fees are Php250 for adults and Php200 for children 4.5 feet or below. To encourage more educational visits, discounted rates are available to local residents. Children below 2 feet get free admission. Discounted rates can also be provided to organized tour operators.
Each paid admission includes a personal guided tour of the exhibits from a friendly trained expert. The tours are conducted in English or in local dialects, if you prefer. Kids (and adults) can freely use the available puzzles and coloring materials and can leave their artwork on display in the kiddies' corner or take them home.
The Mactan Island Aquarium is in Barangay Maribago, on the main highway around the island. You can find this "must-sea" aquarium near Cebu White Sands and the EGI Resort & Hotel. Plenty of free parking, as well as bus parking, is available on-site. You may call Mactan Island Aquarium at telephone numbers (0919)485-1276 and (032)236-6248 or send [email protected] an e-mail message. The aquarium's Web site is mactanaquarium.xetaspace.net
