Some of you might know little of this place. Perhaps, you are only aware of the city being popular of its gun industry and nothing more. If that’s the case, Everything Cebu is telling you that you are missing the chance to discover a very beautiful location.
Since summer escapades will be the trend in the next few months, let us give you a preview of a prospect destination – Danao City!
Locals of Danao couldn’t trace the origin of the name of the city, but stories circulated that it was a derivation of the Cebuano term ‘Danawan’ which means small lake.
Not known to many, Danao celebrates only two major festivals: the feast of Sto. Tomas de Villanueva annually on the third Monday of September, and Karansa Festival – a celebration of joy and merriment.
When you visit Danao, you shouldn’t miss visiting their most famous attractions that include the Replica of Mt. Calvary located in the hill of Barangay Tuburan Sur, the Grotto of the Blessed Virgin of Lourdes, the Garden of Gethsemane just along the churchyard of St. Anthony de Padua Parish and the wooden cross at the peak of Danao’s highest mountain which is a favorite of tourists.
Coming to Danao wouldn’t also be complete without seeing and actually experiencing the services of its most reputable resorts like Danao Coco Palms, El Salvador and Sunshine Shin Beach Resorts.
Danao, just like any other place, boasts of its delicacies namely: Tinap-anan, Kasahos and Kiseo.
Tinap-anan or smoked fish is cooked in vinegar and ginger before being grilled while Kasahos, is a fish marinated and exposed to the sun for few hours. On the other hand, Kiseo is a special kind of cheese made out of carabao’s milk.
Everything Cebu hopes that you consider Danao City in your next summer escapade! Don’t forget to share to us how you enjoyed your stay.
Cheers to Cebu!
