In the 1920s, Casino Español de Cebu, Inc. was a quaint chalet located at Legaspi St. corner Zamora St. It was enough to house an intimate group of enthusiasts, whose prominent names include Don Vidal Aboitiz, Don Ramon Aboitiz, Don Santiago Picornell, Don Quinito Ubago, and Don Manuel Moraz. The founding members of the club are said to have contributed Php10,000 each to start up the venture.
In 2004, Casino Español at V. Ranudo St. opened its doors to the privileged public. This time, it was more than just a watering hole for the elite. It has developed into an elaborate venue for recreation, dining and events, including children’s parties and wedding receptions.
