The Sinulog Foundation, Inc. (SFI) has set up a number of competitions in line with the Sinulog 2013 Grand Parade, which is scheduled on January 20, 2013.
Sinulog Float Category 2013
The participants in the Float Category are judged based on these criteria:
|Creativity/Artistry / Use of Lights||30%|
|Relevance to Sinulog||20%|
|Discreet Use of Advertisement||10%|
A total of Php300,000 will be given away as cash prizes for the winners. The float that wins first place will receive Php150,000, while the second place winner gets Php100,000 and the third placer gets Php50,000.

Sinulog Higante Category 2013
The participants in the Higante Category are judged based on the same criteria indicated in the Float Category.
A total of Php100,000 will be given away as cash prizes for the winners. The float that wins first place will receive Php50,000, while the second place winner gets Php30,000 and the third placer gets Php20,000.
According to the SFI guidelines, participants are encouraged to create “higante” figures of historical characters that are relevant to Sinulog, except that of Señor Santo Niño. Participants are prohibited from depicting the image of the Child Jesus as a higante. The figures are allowed a maximum height of 12 feet. Winning entries shall be considered as exclusive property of the Sinulog Foundation.

Sinulog Puppeteers Category 2013
The participants in the Puppeteers Category are judged based on these criteria:

|Relevance to the Theme||20%|
The theme for this category is “Tapestry of Dreams.” According to the SFI, the puppets shall participate in the carousel route, and you will find them dancing with the audience.
Among other things, the SFI guidelines state that:
The puppets must not be less than 10 feet and must not exceed 18 feet high with wingspans not to exceed 16 feet wide. The puppet must be able to move effortlessly with the breeze.
Each puppet must be manned by a costumed performer (wearing of slippers and sandals not allowed.)
The puppet must be colorful, depicting the fantasies of children. However, it should not be obscene or immoral. The puppet should not be grim-face or scary.

Sinulog Visual Merchandising 2013
The participants in the Visual Merchandising Category are judged based on these criteria:

|This pertains to use of materials, tools and equipment resulting into Excellent, quality of end procedure.|
|Relevance to Sinulog||30%|
|Refers to an idea reflecting the Sinulog spirit. This year’s theme: “One Beat, One Dance, One Vision.”|
|The main idea is centered theme upon which it must resolve to impress on the audience presentation. Must be fresh and novel. This also involves the manipulation of elements so that the end product shows a high degree of creativity and innovativeness particularly following principles of design and composition within the parameter of aesthetics and good taste.|
|Over-all Visual Impact||10%|
According to the SFI guidelines for the Visual Merchandising Category, all department stores, malls/retailers are qualified to join. Deadline for the registration shall be on January 11, 2013. Final Judging will be on January 16, while the awarding will be on January 21, at the Cebu City Sports Center. The top three winners will be awarded trophies.
