The annual Sinulog Short Film Festival is presented by the Sinulog Foundation, Inc. (SFI) in cooperation with the Cebu City Government and Cebu Film Society. This 2013, the organization marks the 9th year of the Video Documentary and Short Film competition.
According to various local reports, this year’s celebration will feature the historic events that have taken place in Cebu, including the birth of the Sinulog and the recent canonization of San Pedro Calungsod. In this line, the organizers are challenging participants in the Film Festival to create documentaries or stories highlighting a specific facet of the Sinulog celebration or showcasing the miraculous power of the Señor Santo Niño.

According to the SFI Web site, there will be two Film Festival winners, one for the Best Sinulog Short Film and another for the Best Sinulog Video Documentary. For each award, there will also be two recipients; one from the Short Film category and another one from the Video Documentary category.

In addition, there will be consolation prizes and special awards. Ten (10) consolation prizes worth Php1,000 each will be awarded. Certificates for Special Awards will be given to the Best Story, Best Director, Best Child Performer, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound Engineering & Musical Scoring, Best Editing, and Best Screenplay.
The SFI guidelines state that all filmmakers are eligible to join the competition. Entries should be in DVD format. The deadline of registration is on January 18, 2013. The screening of all finalists will be at 1 p.m. on January 26, 2013, Saturday, at the SM City Cinema.
