
Over the weekend, the skies of Cebu witnessed more than one mesmerizing display of colors as various establishments held fireworks exhibits. Here are some of the fireworks exhibitions that you should have witnessed during the grand Sinulog weekend.
The newly opened J Centre Mall held a Grand Musical Fireworks Display last Friday, January 13, 2012, at 7 p.m. The event was part of their Friday Upbeat program. J Centre is located at 165 A. S. Fortuna Street, Mandaue City, Cebu.
A Grand Fireworks Display Symphony of Fire sponsored by Dragon Fireworks was also held at Ayala Center Cebu last Sunday, January 15, at 9 p.m.
SM City Cebu held back-to-back fireworks shows during the Sinulog weekend. In cooperation with the Sinulog Foundation and Pyroworks, SM City Cebu hosted the much-anticipated Pyrofest competition on January 14, and Pyrospectacular on January 15, 2012.
The 4th Sinulog Pyrofest competition was held at the parking area fronting The Northwing. Eight competitors from all over the country participated in the event. Five of whom were from Bulacan, specifically Sky Intensity, 888 prosperity, Golden Peacock, E&B Pyrotechnics, and Phoenix Fireworks. The three others are Avila Fireworks from Cebu, Lebrilla Fireworks from Laguna and Janna Marketing from Surigao. The entries were judged according to the fireworks display’s beauty, style, timing, and audience impact.
The winners of the 4th Sinulog Pyrofest competition are all from Bulacan. First Place went to Contestant No. 4 Golden Peacock, and they will bring home Php150,000. Contestant No. 6 Phoenix Fireworks bagged second place and Php125,000, while Contestant No. 1 Sky Intensity who came in third takes home Php100,000.
Aside from the contestants, Pyroworks International, Inc. also held a pyromusical fireworks demo show. Pyroworks International is a Guinness Record Holder for firing the most number of rockets in 30 seconds.
On January 15, SM City Cebu held Pyrospectacular, which is a full pyromusical display by Pyroworks International. The exhibit played Sinulog beats, soundtracks from the movies Mission Impossible and Romeo & Juliet, and songs from LFMAO and Michael Buble. The event was also supported by Apple One, Rose Pharmacy and Salon de Rose.
The Sinulog Foundation also incorporated two exhibitions into the Sinulog 2012 schedule of activities. One was the traditional Sinulog offering during the Vesperas, January 14, which was held after the Pontifical Mass that capped the Solemn Procession of the miraculous image of the Child Jesus. The Sinulog Grand Parade was also concluded with a bang at the Cebu City Sports Center as attendees witnessed the Grand Finale and Fireworks last January 15, 2012.
