Carcar the quaint “Heritage Town of Cebu”, will soon be celebrating its Kabkaban Festival 2014. This year’s theme is “Carcar: Sabakan sa Kabilin, Larawan sa Kalambuan”, which literally means “Seat of Heritage, Mirror of Progress” in English. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate this annual activity of dancing to honor Carcar City’s patroness, St. Catherine of Alexandria. The Kabkaban Festival was started by the renowned choreographer Val Sandiego, and throughout the years, it has grown bigger and grander and has always been flocked by hundreds of tourists.
Aside from the Kabkaban Festival, the city of Carcar has prepared an array of activities starting November 13-Nov. 25 ’14 (dates of the town fiesta itself). They will have an Agro Fair at the town plaza from Nov. 15 to 22, featuring the different products, root crops, and delicacies of every barangay. There will also be a drag race on Nov. 23 which will be held beside the Valladolid Barangay Hall. And then of course, one of the highlights yearly is the prestigious Ms. Carcar contest that features 10 enchanting ladies from Carcar. Coronation night will be on Nov. 24 ’14.
