Cebu joins the celebration of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.
Ayala Center Cebu
Ayala Center Cebu and ICanServe Foundation Inc. are organizing a number of activities in order to increase breast cancer awareness. This year, they wish to emphasize the importance of early detection and healthy lifestyles in order to prevent breast cancer or its recurrence. Survivors and advocates joined the launching in Ayala.
During the “Think Pink” press conference, ICanServe Foundation President Mary Anne Solomon told those gathered that breast cancer is a localized and treatable disease and thus, no woman should die from it today. CANCERCARE Cancer Survivorship Center’s Dr. Omid Etemadi and Philippine Society of Medical Oncology (PSMO) President Dr. Dennis Tudtud also shared their thoughts during the said conference. They emphasized the importance of early detection and lifestyle change on treatment and survival rate and on continuing care for patients.
ICanServe is an advocacy group that aims to empower women diagnosed with breast cancer by providing them information about the disease and what they can do about it. Dr. Etemadi, MD, FAAIM, is a Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Care specialist and presently holds clinic at CANCERCARE, which is the first of its kind here in Cebu. PSMO is an organization of professionals in the field of medical oncology who, among other things, actively promote cancer awareness.
