Dubbed as “A New Decade Has Begun,” Music and Motion 12 will transpire on January 26, 2013, at the new gym of Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC). The event is highlighted by a dance competition among high school dance troupes from the different schools in Cebu. Starting at 6 p.m., the event promises a fun night of intense dance competition and a whole lot of surprises.
The dance groups will be judged based on the following criteria:

|Showmanship, Intensity, Confidence, Projection and Presence – 10%|
|Attire/Costume – 10%|
|Entertainment Value/Crowd Appeal – 10%|

|Execution/Controlled Mobility and Stabilization – 10%|
|Difficulty of Execution of the Choreography – 10%|
|Variety of Hiphop Dance Styles – 10%|
Aside from the jaw-dropping dance routines, guests will be treated to performances by top Cebuano bands, led by veteran Cebuano band Missing Filemon, who is currently busy with their national tour. They just released their latest album entitled “Kawanangan.” Purple Kush, Drop Out Club, and Shepherds Plaid will also be hitting the stage. DJ Kirby 7, one of Cebu’s best deejays, will also be showcasing his turntable and mixing skills during the event. providing the magnificent lights of the Music and Motion stage and dance floor is ishowcebu pro.
Guests will get a chance to win raffle prizes like gift certificates from Jelly Citea and limited-edition Music and Motion shirts. They will have a sneak peak of a brand new musical “You’ve been Facebooked! The Musical.” What more can music and dance enthusiasts ask for?
The first Music & Motion was organized in 1999 with the aim “to promote arts, specifically music and dancing to today’s youth.” It also seeks “to promote the values of responsibility, commitment, sportsmanship, discipline, and creativity of students among different schools in the spirit of friendly competition.”
The Music and Motion production team is composed of Maxel Semblante as executive producer, Paul Lambert David as stage director, Lee Anthony Pada as technical director, Edito Baylon as technical consultant, Billy Arriola as musical director, Marvin Ken Visaya as stage manager, Kimchel Villo as house manager, Carlo Adrian Abelo as graphic artist, and Enricke Paulo Kee as animator.
Last year’s grand prize winners came from Southwestern University – Basak Campus. If you believe you have what it takes to represent your school, register now! Only one dance team per school is allowed. The participating schools that have registered so far are DBTC, St. Theresa’s College, University of Cebu, Cebu National Science High School, and University of San Carlos – South Campus.
Deadline of submission of registration forms is on January 15, 2013. An event briefing for competing groups was held on December 17, 2012, at DBTC. Those who missed the briefing are advised to contact the organizers.
