Founded in 1996, the pageant entitled “Mrs. Globe” has since become one of the biggest international beauty pageants made exclusively for married women. The pageant is hosted in 40 countries around the world. Local pageants are held in these countries in order to select their official representative.
According to their official website, Mrs. Globe is the primary fundraiser for The W.I.N. Foundation, which is an outreach program that specializes in helping women and children who have been victims of physical, emotional, financial, or spiritual abuse recover and improve their self-esteem.
In line with this, the Philippines hosts a formal pageant entitled Mrs. Philippines-Globe every year. This pageant recognizes married women, mothers and single moms as “movers of society, a symbol of inspiration, and beauty through charitable causes.” The winner of Mrs. Philippines-Globe becomes the official representative to the Mrs. Globe World Finals.
The search for Mrs. Philippines- Globe is spearheaded by National Pageant Director Morena Carla Cabrera-Quimpo. Mrs. Quimpo is the Managing Director of EVI Marketing Communications, which is the licensed producer and organizer of Mrs. Globe in the Philippines.
In 2012, 28-year-old Joycelyn Agsaway was crowned as the first-ever Mrs. Philippines-Globe. She received approximately Php700,000 worth of prizes. She represented the Philippines to the Mrs. Globe World Finals held last August 2012 in California, USA.
Agsaway is not just a mother but she is also the manager of Edsa Shangri-La’s Horizon Club, and is a volunteer teacher at the University of the Philippines’ Ugnayan ng Pahinungod. According to their press release, “Agsaway proved that she best embodies that rare combination of beauty and substance.”
Last year’s coronation night was held at the Harbour Garden Tent of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. The candidates showed off their sexy figures in swimsuits, which were designed by Ricky Abad. Top designers Ronald Enrico, Pablo Cabahug, Edwin Uy, Jonti Martinez, and Barge Ramos designed the evening gowns for the lovely misses. Uy also created the crowns for the pageant’s winners.
The panel of judges was composed of an elite group of individuals, specifically Tweetie De Leon-Gonzales, Patty Betita, Olen Lim, Mrs. Malaysia-Globe 2011 Melinda Yap, Mrs. Singapore-Globe 2011 Melinda Chong, Mrs. Philippines-World 2008 Eimee Cragun, Imus Vice Mayor Many Ilano, Phillip Underwood, and National Pageant Director Morena Carla Cabrera-Quimpo.
Completing the list of last year’s winners are Ma. Micaela Isabel Malupa who won first runner-up, Patricia Cardel who brought home the second runner-up award and Pinky Siva who was awarded the Woman of Substance and Most Elegant Woman titles.
